Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are stored by the ECU when it detects a fault or out-of-range reading from any engine sensor or system. While DTCs serve an important diagnostic purpose on stock vehicles, they become problematic when hardware modifications have been performed that intentionally change or remove monitored components.

After removing a DPF, EGR valve, catalytic converter, or other emission components, the ECU will continuously log fault codes and may activate the check engine light, reduce engine performance, or trigger limp mode. These fault codes cannot be permanently cleared with a diagnostic tool because the ECU will re-detect the missing or modified component on the next drive cycle.

Our DTC removal file service permanently deactivates the specific diagnostic monitoring routines that trigger unwanted fault codes. Rather than simply clearing the codes, we modify the ECU software to prevent the fault from being detected in the first place. This provides a permanent, clean solution with no recurring warning lights.

We can remove fault codes for virtually any deactivated or removed component, including DPF differential pressure sensors, EGR position sensors, NOx sensors, lambda probes, catalytic converter efficiency monitors, swirl flap position sensors, and secondary air injection systems.

Each DTC removal request is handled individually. Simply provide the list of fault codes you need removed along with your ECU file, and our engineers will deactivate the corresponding monitoring routines while preserving all other diagnostic functions.

Frequently Asked Questions

DTC clearing uses a diagnostic tool to erase stored fault codes, but the ECU will re-detect the fault on the next drive cycle. DTC removal modifies the ECU software to permanently deactivate the monitoring routine, preventing the fault from ever being logged again.
We can remove virtually any DTC related to deactivated or removed components, including DPF, EGR, catalytic converter, lambda, NOx sensor, swirl flap, and secondary air system fault codes.
No. We only deactivate the specific monitoring routines for the requested fault codes. All other diagnostic functions remain fully operational, allowing normal fault detection for unmodified systems.
Yes. We recommend providing the specific DTC numbers (e.g., P0401, P2463) from your diagnostic scan. Our engineers will target only those specific monitoring routines in the ECU software.
